Season starts TODAY!!

You should have received emails with team assignments. If for some reason you did not, please email me. I will also be at the field tomorrow to direct any players to the right location.

Please report to your practice field location to start the session tomorrow 9/14 at 9am at Amerige Field. You will meet your coaches and get your uniforms.

If for any reason there’s is a cancellation in the future, you would hear it from myself directly through email and on this blog.

Also, please note parking restrictions are strictly enforced at Amerige Park. Parking is allowed on the Fellsway side of the park only. Parking onHighland Ave and  Savin St is allowed only on the side opposite the park. Please respect the restrictions and the residents.  The same holds true for leaving the field as we find it.

Our main goal is to provide every child with a fun and friendly opportunitiy to learn to play soccer. Our league is run entirely by Volunteers, from our Board straight through to our coaches. It is because of the volunteers that we are able to provide these opportunities to our players. There is always room for more volunteers so if you are interested, please contact me or reach out to your coaches directly.

Below you will find the Practice Field locations. Please report to this field at the start of every session.

Thanks,
Brooke Little

WEATHER CANCELLATION

Greetings U5 Parents and players,
DUE TO THE RAIN/BAD WEATHER FORECAST FOR TOMORROW 9/7, WE WILL CANCEL THE FIRST SESSION FOR PLAYERS, WHICH WAS INITIALLY GOING TO BE HELD DURING OUR COACHES TRAINING. THE TRAINING WILL BE HELD, BUT ONLY COACHES WILL ATTEND. PLAYERS WILL OFFICIALLY START THE U5 SEASON NEXT SATURDAY 9/14 AT AMERIGE FIELD 9AM - 10:15AM. See below for important season information!
Fall soccer is starting!! Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Brooke Little and I'm the U5 League Director. I've been coaching with Malden Youth Soccer for about 7 years, from U5 intown all the way up to U12 travel and I hold coaching licenses for each age group. My son currently plays in U12 and my daughter plays in U5. I am looking forward to helping create a great foundation and love of soccer for so many boys and girls! Additionally I hope to create a love of coaching for our volunteers!
Starting on 9/14 our practice and games will be held every Saturday from 9am to 10:30am at Amerige Field, with our final session on 11/2. Players will be assigned to teams prior to the 9/14 session and we will distribute uniforms to all players that day. Each session will start with 45 minutes of practice drills to learn the basics. For the last 30 minutes, we put all those skills to use in a friendly game with another U5 team. A match where everyone is excited, smiling, and motivated is my definition of a win.

Please bring/wear:
- Shin guards
- Sneakers with decent soles for good grip on dewy mornings (Cleats are optional)
- Comfortable clothing (Your child will receive a full uniform, but can wear layers underneath for cold mornings)
- A size 3 soccer ball with their name written on it
- A bottle of water for your all-star
- A snack if needed

Our philosophy for this age group is to provide every child with a fun and friendly opportunity to learn to play soccer. At this age it is mostly about introducing basic soccer rules and basic skills like dribbling/passing/shooting, familiarizing young players with the idea of group sports, including everyone, and most of all having fun! U5 is the start of soccer for many children and we aim to create a great foundation and spark a love of soccer in our players.

We are still in need of parent volunteers to help the Coaches!! There is no experience necessary, it is literally to help the head coach organize the kids and keep all engaged. The more volunteers we have, the smoother things run! Since you will be at the field anyway, it is a great way to get involved and help the kids! Please let me know, if you are willing to volunteer.

Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. I can be reached anytime via email, call, or text. Looking forward to a great season! Also check out the U5 blog! Fall Soccer starts THIS WEEK!

Greetings U5 Parents and players,

Fall soccer is starting!! Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Brooke Little and I'm the U5 League Director. I've been coaching with Malden Youth Soccer for about 7 years, from U5 intown all the way up to U12 travel and I hold coaching licenses for each age group. My son currently plays in U12 and my daughter plays in U5. I am looking forward to helping create a great foundation and love of soccer for so many boys and girls! Additionally I hope to create a love of coaching for our volunteers!

We will start THIS Saturday 9/7. For this FIRST session we will run things a bit differently, as we are having a U5 coaches training that day and would like our players to participate in the "on field" portion of the training, for our coaches to practice what they've learned and give our new players a little warmup/intro to soccer. Also this a great opportunity for parents to get an up close look at our coaches training/development. (And maybe entice some of you to volunteer to coach in the future!) This Saturday 9/7 we will meet at the Linden School Field from 10:30am to 12pm. When you arrive, myself or another Malden Youth Soccer representative will point you to where you need to go.

Starting the following week on 9/14 our practice and games will be held every Saturday from 9am to 10:30am at Amerige Field, with our final session on 11/2. Players will be assigned to teams prior to the 9/14 session and we will distribute uniforms to all players that day. Each session will start with 45 minutes of practice drills to learn the basics.
